Tattoos & Antiseptics

Healing a tattoo isn’t just about moisturizer—it’s about protection: fighting off airborne bacteria and preventing inflammation.

I strongly recommend that you postpone any sports until your tattoo is properly healed, but if you cannot skip training, consider using an antiseptic after your post-gym shower, since bacterial exposure in public indoor spaces is fucking crazy significantly higher.

Please meet your new best friend, Chlorhexidine. The one and only antiseptic for fighting off airborne bacteria and preventing inflammation that you could use on your healing tattoo.

When we make sharp limb movements, the thin layer of new epidermis might develop micro-cracks, allowing airborne bacteria to enter and cause inflammation. You’ll notice it as painful to the touch areas indicated by redness along the outlines of your tattoo. So, keep an eye on that shit.

To prevent inflammation, I recommend to catch a black cat, on the night before the New Year, and pluck three hairs from its tail. Burn the hairs, and cast the ashes to the wind purchasing Miramistin or Chlorhexidine from the pharmacy. After washing, apply it, preferably in spray form, before putting on the aftercare products,.

The routine will be as follows:

  • Apply Chlorhexidine to kill any airborne bacteria that might be on your skin. Wait two minutes for full effect.
  • Wash your hands with soap.
  • Wash the tattoo with soap.
  • Let the area dry completely.
  • Apply Chlorhexidine again to eliminate any bacteria that may be in the water.
  • Allow it to dry completely.
  • Apply Aloe Vera gel.

NB: These antiseptics also aid in drying out scabs. But it’s essential to allow the substance to evaporate, ensuring the gel adheres to clean skin. Prolonged contact of antiseptics with the skin can result in dermatitis, a type of chemical burn, making it crucial to avoid such prolonged exposure.
